Garment workers on strike

BANGALORE: A section of garment workers across the State will go on strike on November 5, urging the State Government to fulfil their demands, including increase in minimum wages.

Garment Karmikara Sangha General Secretary N.M. Mutthappa told presspersons here on Monday that present daily minimum wages were Rs. 101.21 for those working in Bangalore city and Rs. 91.91 in urban areas. “We demand minimum wages to be fixed at Rs. 6,000 a month and there should be 10 per cent increase annually in the wages, he said. — Staff Reporter
