Belgaum: Additional Director-General of Police D.V. Guruprasad has urged police forces to be more vigilant in the light of growing threats from terrorists. Speaking at a function to mark passing out parade of the 16th batch of trainees at the Police Department’s training centre at Khanapur on Monday, he said that the issue of terrorism had become a cause for concern in the State which was otherwise peaceful. Threats from naxals and fundamentalist organisations had compounded the problem, he said. Mr. Guruprasad told the new recruits to strive for improving the image of the department. A good relationship and people-friendly attitude would go a long way in improving the efficiency of the department. Inspector General of Police (Northern Range) Raghavendra Auradkar, Superintendent of Police Sonia Narang, and training centre principal A.R. Anvekar were present. Prizes were distributed to the winners of various competitions held during the training period. In all, 351 trainees, including 143 from Bagalkot, 105 from Chikmagalur, 77 from Raichur, 24 from Dharwad, one each from Davangere and Ramanagar districts completed their training successfully.
