‘Promote sports and games’

Belgaum: A State-level sports meet organised by the Department of Pre-University and Vocational Education and Jain College, Peeranwadi, was inaugurated at the district stadium here on Tuesday.

Feroz Sait, Belgaum North MLA, who inaugurated the meet, urged the students to give equal importance to sports and games and studies as it would help them physically and mentally.

Abhay Kumar Patil, Belgaum South MLA, appealed to private institutions and organisations to join hands with the Government to encourage and promote sports and games among the youth.

He said that he wished to see national-level events in Belgaum in future and offered his support in that direction.

Siddaraj Swamiji of Naganur Math graced the inaugural function.

Sanjay Patil, Belgaum Rural MLA, and officials of the host department and college were present.

Competitions in basketball and judo are being held in the city.
