Mumbai racing season further delayed
Mumbai: In view of the Equine Influenza which has spread over the stables of the Royal Western India Turf Club Ltd (RWITC), the managing committee of RWITC met here along with the trainers at the Mahalaxmi race course on Monday. The Committee has decided to delay the Mumbai racing season further till mid January and not to move the horses from Pune to Mumbai till the viral fever is completely cured.
Almost over 90 per cent of horses which are infected with this disease need a month’s time to recover. Vivek S.Jain, Chairman, Marketing & Media Committee of RWITC told The Hindu " that it is not possible to shift horses in this condition from Pune to Mumbai now”.
