Veeramani plea on Sri Lankan issue

CHENNAI: Dravidar Kazhagam president K. Veeramani has urged political parties not to try to make political gain on the Sri Lankan Tamils issue but, instead, unite to raise their voices in favour of them.

In a statement here on Monday, Mr. Veeramani said that it was unfortunate that some political parties, which participated in the all-party meeting, were critical of the Chief Minister’s follow-up action. Only due to the pressure exerted by the Chief Minister, the Centre had taken steps to provide solace to the Tamils. He appealed to political parties not to make any attempt that would affect the progress of steps being taken in this regard. — Special Correspondent
