Jamiat national meet on November 8

Hyderabad: The 29th national session of the Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind beginning here on November 8 will discuss various issues facing the Muslim community, including the demand for reservation, implementation of Sachar Committee report and protection of Wakf properties.

The two-day programme will especially focus on the challenges posed by terrorism and communalism, said Jamiat leader and Rajya Sabha MP Maulana Mehmood Madni and State president Hafiz Peer Shabbir Ahmed.

They told presspersons here on Monday that terrorism, communalism and regionalism had jeopardised harmony so much so that people felt insecure.

Strong message

They particularly deplored the demonising of Muslims and said Islam never permitted terrorism. The Hyderabad session would send out a strong message about the need for national integration and communal harmony, Maulana Madni said.

He said about 10,000 prominent Muslim clerics from all over the country were expected to attend the session being held at Nizam College grounds. Jamiat president, Mohammad Usman Mansoorpuri, will preside over the programme.

Clerics from other religions like Sri Sri Ravi Shankar and Swamy Agnavish would also attend.

Special train

A special train named “Shaikhul Hind national integration and peace Express” would be run from Deoband to Hyderabad via Delhi, Jhani and Nagapur on November 6.
