Prompt tax payer wins Rs. 1 lakh cash prize

GHMC organises lucky draw

HYDERABAD: S. Bhoomaiah, a resident of Vanasthalipuram’s NGO Colony got a bonanza of sorts from the GHMC when he bagged a Rs. 1 lakh cash prize for being a prompt property tax payer for the year 2007-2008. He was chosen through a lucky draw conducted on Monday at the corporation’s head office.

K. Vatsala and Ghousia Begum bagged the second prize of Rs. 25,000 cash each. Five others won a cash prize of Rs. 10,000, 10 people got a cash prize of Rs. 5,000 and two got a cash prize of Rs. 2,000.

GHMC Commissioner S.P. Singh and Deputy General Manager of SBH Rajini Mishra conducted the lucky draw and announced the prize winners. Only citizens who had paid the tax without any arrears were eligible to participate in the draw. As many as 3.78 lakh people were eligible for the contest out of the 10.50 lakh property tax payers in the twin cities, said Additional Commissioner (Finance) Ramesh Babu.
