Angandwadi workers for wage revision

HYDERABAD: The Andhra Pradesh Anganwadi Workers and Helpers’ Union has demanded amendment to G.O. revising the monthly wages of helpers to Rs.250 with effect from July 1 this year. B. Lalithamma, president, in a statement here Monday criticised the government for issuing orders fixing Rs.200 as wages, contrary to its assurance. She said following a representation by the union to the government on October 25 Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy had announced monthly wages of Rs.300 for each Anganwadi worker and Rs.250 for helpers. But G.O. 36 had fixed Rs.200 as wage for each helper; hence the need for revising it. -Special Correspondent
