Glimpses of Rajasthan and Romania

Special Correspondent

JAIPUR: An exhibition of paintings on “Glimpses of Rajasthan and Romania” ended at Jawahar Kala Kendra here over the weekend after highlighting common factors affecting the culture, lifestyle and social customs in the desert State of India and the small European country.

The exhibition – displaying the paintings of famous artist Dipto Narayan Chattopadhyay – marked the completion of 60 years of diplomatic relations between India and Romania. It started on October 20 and was sponsored by the Romanian Embassy and the P.C.B. Art Gallery, New Delhi.

Romanian Ambassador to India Vasile Sofineti, invited as a special guest to the exhibition, said such events would help strengthen ties between the two countries.

Mr. Chattopadhyay said he was inspired to draw paintings during his visit to Romania in 2005 as a member of the delegation accompanying the then Vice-President, Bhairon Singh Shekhawat.
