Administrative reshuffle in Rajasthan

Chief Election Commissioner expressed displeasure over functioning of some senior officers

Two SPs and five RAS officers transferred


JAIPUR: The Rajasthan government has transferred one District Collector, two Superintendents of Police and five Rajasthan Administrative Service (RAS) officers reportedly on the direction of the Election Commission which visited the State over the week-end. The Assembly elections in the State are scheduled for December 4.

Chief Election Commissioner N. Gopalaswami, who visited the State Capital along with his team on Friday, had received complaints about irregularities in the voters’ lists and violation of the model code of conduct. The CEC reportedly conveyed his displeasure to the State government over the functioning of some of the senior district officers.

According to an official release here on Sunday, Churu Collector Arjun Ram Meghwal has been shifted as Managing Director of Rajasthan Small-Scale Industries Development Corporation (RAJSICO). Ajitabh Sharma has been posted as the new Collector in Churu.

Dausa SP Bahadur Singh Kapoor and Sirohi SP Bijendra Jhala have been removed from their posts on the Election Commission’s direction and replaced by Jose Mohan and Gaurav Srivastava, respectively.

While Mr. Kapoor has been posted as the SP, CID (Crime), Jaipur, Mr. Jhala goes as SP, Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS), Jaipur. A few more administrative and police officers are likely to be shunted out in the run-up to the State Assembly polls.

Among the RAS officers, Ganpatlal Chitara has been shifted as the Land Acquisition Officer, Rajasthan State Mines and Minerals Limited, Barmer; Abha Jain as the District Supply Officer, Jaipur; and Nalini Katotia as the Additional Chief Executive Officer, Zila Parishad, Jaipur.

Former Jaipur DSO Vasudev Sharma and former Additional CEO, Zila Parishad, Jaipur, D.S. Dhillon, have been asked to wait for their new posting orders and report at the Personnel Department for the time being.
