Jayalalithaa warns against threats

CHENNAI: AIADMK general secretary Jayalalithaa on Saturday warned that she would not remain silent if attacks, foisting of cases, arrests and threats against her and her party workers continued.

In a statement here, she said during her tenure as Chief Minister, the police discharged their duty independently. But, at present, the acts of the police were to the extent of making the people disgusted.

She said after participating in the Guru Puja, five AIADMK workers workers were stabbed. They had been hospitalised in Madurai. Two of them were in intensive care. What caused concern was that when a complaint was presented on behalf of the party in connection with the incident, a case under a non-bailable provision was registered against the AIADMK workers. — Special Correspondent
