CPI (M-L) to field 15 candidates

JAIPUR: The Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist) is to field 15 candidates for the forthcoming Rajasthan Assembly elections. The party has already announced its candidates for nine seats, including those for Jaipur’s urban constituencies, Vidhy- adhar Nagar and Jhotwara.
“The CPI (M-L) will oppose the anti-people policies of the United Progressive Alliance Government as well as the National Democratic Alliance and uphold the cause of the common man,” said Srilata Swaminathan, member of the party’s Central Committee, over the weekend.
“Our focus would be on issues of the labour, poor farmers, Dalits, Adivasis, women and other deprived sections in Rajasthan,” she added.
The names announced so far include Harkesh Bugalia for Vidhyadhar Nagar, Chotu Lal Meena for Jhotwara and Rasheed Ahmed for Jhunjhunu. The party has nominated Bhanwari Bai for the reserved seat of Ajmer (South) while the other candidates are Dhananjay Joshi (Udaipur), Gautamlal Meena (Salumber-ST), Jamnalal Budel (Dhariwad-ST) and Karulal Meena (Pratapgarh-ST).
