Toyota Altis Open from November 5

BANGALORE: Toyota, one of the World’s leading automobile manufacturers, has announced its entry into the Indian professional golf with the launch of the inaugural Toyota Altis Open scheduled to be hosted here at the Eagleton Golf Resort from November 5 to 8 under the auspices of the Professional Golf Tour of India (PGTI).

A Pro-Am contest would follow the Rs. 20 lakh Open event on November 9.

This will be the first men’s professional tournament to be held in Bangalore since February 2008 and will see India’s biggest golfers battle it out in the race for ending the year as No. 1. With only one or two tournaments remaining after the Toyota Altis Open, Mukesh Kumar and Rahul Ganapathy will be involved in a major tussle for the top spot during the tournament.

The other top contenders include Ashok Kumar, Shamim Khan, Gaganjeet Bhullar, Harendra Gupta, Mohd. Siddikur Rahman and Harmeet Kahlon. — Special Correspondent
