Agriculture clinics to be opened in 10 blocks

KRISHNAGIRI: Agriculture clinics will be soon opened in all the 10 blocks in Krishnagiri district, said Collector V.K. Shanmugam, recently.
To ease the difficulties faced by the farmers, the Government has come out with a plan to open agricultural advisory and service centres (Agriculture clinics) in the State.
The farmers can get all the necessary inputs from the clinics which includes farm equipments, power tillers, tractors, seeding and harvesting machine. There will also be a soil testing labs. It will provide employment to graduates in agriculture, diploma holders and also retired officials from the Agricultural Department. They can come forward to set up more of such centres, he added. The Government is offering Rs. 3 lakh as subsidy through the Agriculture Department to those interested in setting up these centres. Entrepreneurs will have to invest a minimum amount of Rs. 16 lakhs and they will be given Rs. 4 lakh as subsidy. Those investing Rs, 21.50 lakh for seed-cleaning machine will be offered Rs. 7.50 lakhs as subsidy, he said. The farmers can use the clinic as a one stop shop for all their requirements.
