Patil to convey Cabinet sense

Special Correspondent

NEW DELHI: Under attack from UPA allies over the anti-north Indian violence in Maharashtra, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has directed that the “sense” of the Union Cabinet be conveyed to the State government.

Briefing journalists on Friday, Finance Minister P. Chidambaram said Dr. Singh directed Home Minister Shivraj Patil to take the sense of the Cabinet and convey it to Maharashtra.

Dr. Singh informed the meeting that he did write a “rather strongly-worded letter” to the State government, Mr. Chidambaram said.
