BSc students of DU end agitation

Staff Reporter

Students have been protesting over their “unexpected” final results

NEW DELHI: Several students enrolled in the restructured B.Sc. (Programme) at Delhi University who had been protesting against their poor results have ended their agitation after the administration agreed to some of their demands regarding their re-admission.

However, their primary demand for reviewing the results of the second year students enrolled in the course and promoting them to the next year was not considered by the administration.

“We have agreed to a few of their demands that were not disturbing the University ordinances. Some of these demands are that after they take re-admission in the second year, their attendance should be taken into account from November 1 as they could not attend the classes because of their protest. They have also demanded that their internal assessment should also begin from the same date and they be given 25 days to complete their assignments,” said Proctor Gurmeet Singh.

The students have been protesting for the past two months over their “unexpected” final results.

“We had called off our first agitation after the authorities told us that they will review the results of both the first and second year students enrolled in the programme. But the results of only the first year students was re-considered,” said a second year student.

“We were demanding that our results also be reviewed, but at the end of this long struggle we were left with only a handful of students to protest against the administration. Besides, the administration declined to accept our main demand,” he added.
