Guwahati: Communist Party of India(Marxist) Polit Bureau member Brinda Karat on Friday urged all political parties to rise above narrow political considerations and stand united in the fight against terrorism. Condemning Thursday’s serial blasts in Assam, she said the entire country was unitedly and solidly behind the people of Assam in its hour of distress. She called for the strengthening of the intelligence network and for using the forum of Parliament to address the issues of equipping the intelligence agencies with adequate and sophisticated equipment. This, she said, was of paramount importance in the context of such terror strikes. Speaking to journalists after visiting the blast sites and the injured at hospitals, Ms. Karat, who was accompanied by senior party MP Basudev Acharya and State leaders, stressed the need for more coordination between the Centre and the States to fight terrorism. Cautioning against speculating about the identity of the perpetrators, she said that some forces had been spreading communal hatred in Assam and elsewhere.
