Punjab in quarterfinals

DEHRADUN: Punjab and Nagaland were among the teams that qualified for the quarterfinals of the All-India Police badminton championships that began here on Friday.

Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), Uttarakhand ‘A’, Intelligence Bureau, Tamil Nadu, Manipur and Special Protection Group were the other teams that came through the league phase to make the last-eight stage.

The results: Group ‘A’: Nagaland bt UP 2-0; Punjab bt Uttarakhand ‘B’ 2-0; Nagaland bt Uttarakhand ‘B’ 2-0; Punjab bt UP 2-0; UP bt Uttarakhand ‘B’ 2-0; Punjab bt Nagaland 2-0.

Group ‘B’: ITBP bt SSB 2-0; Uttarakhand ‘A’ bt MP 2-0; ITBP bt Uttarakhand ‘A’ 2-0; Uttarakhand ‘A’ bt SSB 2-1; ITBP bt MP 2-0; MP bt SSB 2-0.

Group ‘C’: J and K bt Tamil Nadu 2-0; IB bt J and K 2-0; Tamil Nadu bt IB 2-1.

Group ‘D’: NPA bt RPF 2-1; Manipur bt SPG 2-0; SPG bt RPF 2-0; Manipur bt RPF 2-1; Manipur bt NPA 2-1; SPG bt NPA 2-1.
