Ban Ki-moon condemns Assam blasts

Special Correspondent

NEW DELHI: United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon on Friday strongly condemned the serial blasts in Assam which claimed over 70 lives.

Beginning his press conference with the condemnation, the Secretary-General expressed his deep sorrow and sympathy to the government and people of India for the loss of life and destruction.

Mr. Ban strongly condemned the acts of terrorism targeting civilians and said there could be absolutely no justification for such indiscriminate violence.

About 470 were also injured in 13 near-simultaneous blasts in Guwahati and three other towns on Thursday by suspected Bangladesh-based HuJI militants.
