SALEM: Members of Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) shared their experiences of trauma and sufferings with police men on the evil effects of alcohol, which they said had wrecked their career and personal life. At a meeting held here to sensitise policemen to the evil effects of alcohol, organised at the AR grounds here on Friday, the members from AA group explained about their sufferings when they became addicts. These members said that once the alcohol took over the humans, it would meticulously destroy them. Policemen who attended the meeting shared their travails when they became alcoholics. The AA members pointed out that alcoholism was a disease and had to be addressed properly. “We always say that prevention is better than cure from our own experiences. Hence stop drinking before it devours you,” the members told the participants. Senior police officers addressed the gathering and explained the bad effect of alcohol. ADSP K. Elangovan presided over the meeting. DSP (Prohibition) K. Gunasekar addressed the participants.
