AOC Centre enters final

HYDERABAD: AOC Centre defeated South Central Railway 4-3 via tie-breaker to enter the final of the Susai Sr memorial football tournament, organised by Shastri Soccer Club, at Trimulgherry Village Grounds here on Thursday.

The teams were locked goalless at full-time.

In the tie-breaker, Rakesh, Premjit, Mondal and Ramesh were successful for Railwaymen while Alfred, Mouzzam and Azeem scored for the losers.

The final between AOC and State Bank of Hyderabad will be played on Saturday, tomorrow being a rest day.

Hat-trick by Sashank

Left-arm spinner V. L. Sashank claimed four for 17, including a hat-trick, to help St. Peter’s High School (Bowenpally) record a 10-wicket win over International School in the Glendale Trophy (under-14) cricket tournament here.

The scores:

International School 52 (V. L. Sashank four for 17, Nagaraj three for nine) lost to St. Peter’s School (Bowenpally) 53 for no loss.

BVBPS 196 for six (Harish 82, Prajeet 31, Siddarth three for 27) bt Sreenidhi 117 for eight (Srikanth 68).

Bhavan’s College wins

Bhavan’s Junior College defeated St. Andrew’s High School by 69 runs in the Boost Cup (under-16) cricket tournament here.

Boost Cup (under-16): Quarterfinals: Little Flower JC ‘Red’ 183 for nine (Ashrith 59, Javed three for 33) bt Cal Public School 141 for nine (Vishal Jude Phillips 30, Adithya 31, Saheb Ali Khan three for 15).

Bhavans JC 186 for four (Naveen 33, Jagdish 46) bt St. Andrew’s HS 117.

Sridhar in semifinals

Sridhar defeated Arjun 9-1 in the men’s singles quarterfinals of the Transworld Sports Foundation Masters tennis tournament (35 years & above) at Indira Park here.

YMCA chess tournament

YMCA of Greater Hyderabad (Narayanaguda) will conduct 16th annual YMCA Tatipally Gopala Krishna prize money open chess tournament from November 6 to 15.

Entries close on November 5 for the event with a total prize money of Rs. 15,000.

SAI judokas shine

Judokas from Sports Authority of India (STC, Saroornagar) won five gold and three silver in the inter-district judo championship held in Bhongir, according to K. Prabhakar, SAI Administrator.

The SAI trainees who represented Ranga Reddy district in the championship also helped the team win the overall championship also.

The medallists were: Gold: B. Karthik (45 kg); T. Ramesh (56 kg); V. Rakesh (66 kg); K. P. Dikshit (81 kg). Silver: D. Srikanth (50 kg), Ch. Ramu (55 kg), K. Srinu (60 kg).

East Godavari posts win

Host East Godavari prevailed over Srikakulam by 13 runs while Visakhapatnam beat Vizianagaram by four wickets in the round-robin matches of the ACA North Zone under-25 one-day tournament at Kakinada on Thursday.

The scores:

East Godavari 146 in 42 overs (M. Ajay Kumar 43, L. Gopalakrishna three for 28) bt Srikakulam 133 in 48.5 overs (M.S. Deepak Kumar 51, A. Ravikumar four for 15).

Vizianagaram 206 in 45 overs (Mahesh 81, D. Sivakumar four for 23) lost to Visakhapatnam 207 for six in 37 overs (V. Abraham 84, J.T. Yadav 56).

Sridhar sizzles

D. Sridhar’s knock of 179 (24x4, 6x6) for Vizag Greens and Anand’s haul of six wickets for Assocition of Bheemli Cricketers were the highlights of day’s play in the VDCA fifth division clubs league on Thursday.

Vizag Greens 389 in 47.2 overs (D. Sridhar 179, M. Ravikumar 91, C. Bhaskar four for 144) bt Luxury CC ‘B’ 116 in 24.5 overs (Vamsidhar Reddy 51 n.o.).
