Journalist assaulted at Malad

Special Correspondent

MUMBAI: Forty-year-old Dinanath Tiwari, a journalist working for Nirbhay Pathik, a Hindi eveninger in the city, was assaulted and injured by suspected members of the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) on Wednesday night at Malad, a north-western suburb.

The incident happened around 11.30 p.m. on the premises of Kurar police station and a case of assault has been registered against 15 persons including Vanita Ghag, a local corporator. Kurar police said that on Wednesday night there was a crowd of people at the station, who had come to complain about a dispute among themselves over money.

One was a group of Maharashtrians and the other was Hindi-speaking.

Police said Tiwari had come to inquire about the incident and instead he started talking in a derogatory way about how North Indians were treated.
