Arrested for incendiary act

Staff Reporter

Chennai: A 30-year-old man, who set fire to his bedroom in anger, was arrested on Thursday after the house-owner filed a complaint against the tenant for damaging property.

Police said that Rajesh, a chartered accountant residing in Ayanavaram, had become enraged because his wife Jaya Devi had stayed out late visiting friends. Rajesh is alleged to have taken his wife’s clothes, poured kerosene on them and set them afire in anger. The flames damaged the bedroom.

House owner Saravanan filed a complaint with the Ayanavaram police and Rajesh was arrested.
