Student attacked

Thiruvananthapuram: Persons suspected to be Akhila Bharathiya Vidyarthi Parishad activists hacked a 21-year-old University College student, Shafi, owing allegiance to the Students Federation of India at Karette near here on Thursday. Shafi is a final year student of Arabic History. The assailants followed him on a motorbike and waylaid him when he disembarked from a public transport bus at Karette junction.

The police suspect that the attack on Shafi was in retaliation for the SFI attack on an ABVP activist at the Saphalyam shopping complex on Wednesday. —Staff Reporter
