Indian challenge ends

New Delhi: National champion Chetan Anand suffered a straight-game defeat at the hands of Chinese Jin Chen in the first round, bringing the curtains down on the Indian challenge at the French Super Series badminton tournament in Paris on Thursday.

Unseeded Chetan Anand failed to put up a fight against the third-seeded Jin Chen and went down 21-17, 21-14 in just 34 minutes. Chetan Anand’s defeat brought the Indian challenge to an end in the first round itself. — PTI
