Malappuram begins in style

KOZHIKODE: Malappuram opened its campaign with a thumping 209-run win over Alappuzha in the State senior women’s cricket championship at the Corporation Stadium here on Thursday. At the Medical College Ground, Kannur trounced Wayanad by eight wickets.

The scores: Malappuram 223 for four in 50 overs (Anu P. Alex 53 n.o., Mariyamma 49) bt Alappuzha 14 in 7.3 overs (Deeshma five for seven).

Wayanad 20 in 13 overs (Vineetha seven for 13, Deepthi three for seven) lost to Kannur 21 for two in 7.2 overs.
