Hooda promises 20-hour power supply

CHANDIGARH: After completion of the ongoing projects and setting up of new power projects besides strengthening of transmission and distribution network in two years, the electricity consumers of Haryana will get electricity from 20 to 22 hours daily, Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda announced on Thursday.
Addressing a public meeting at village Jasia in district Rohtak after inaugurating a 132 KV substation constructed by the Haryana Vidyut Prasaran Nigam, Mr. Hooda said that the power system was being augmented and strengthened in a planned manner.
He said that the Central Electricity Authority had recommended the setting up of a 400 KV substation in district Rohtak in view of upcoming annual load growth of around 15 per cent due to rapid industrialisation and modernisation. The survey of suitable land for constructing the proposed substation was being conducted, he added.
He said that a massive investment of over Rs.25,000 crore had been planned during the 11th Plan period.
