MALAPPURAM: The Muslim Youth League (MYL) State leadership has lashed out at the Communist Party of India (Marxist) for not disowning the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and its leader Abdul Nasir Maudany “in the wake of the unearthing of PDP men’s involvement in terror activities.” Addressing the media here on Thursday, MYL State general secretary N. Shamsudheen said that the speeches and statements made by CPI(M) leaders despising terrorism were fake and devoid of honesty. “They should be ready to disown the PDP if at all they are frank about their anti-terror bombast,” Mr. Shamsudheen said. He alleged that all the three men from Malappuram linked with terrorism had been PDP activists and leaders. Abdul Raheem from Chettippadi who was killed in Kashmir was an active worker of the PDP. Rahim’s accomplice Umerul Farooque, after whom the police are on, was PDP candidate at Parappanangadi with Left Democratic Front support. Abdul Jabbar from Mangalam, Tirur, who allegedly escaped an encounter was also a candidate of the PDP. He said the CPI(M) was trying to field a candidate who was acceptable to the PDP in the coming Lok Sabha election. “It is a shame on that party.” He said CPI(M) leaders, including T.K. Hamza, MP, had taken part in a leadership camp of the PDP held at Thalappara in the district a few months back.
