Chandy meets Achuthanandan

Thiruvananthapuram: Leader of the Opposition Oommen Chandy on Thursday met Chief Minister V.S. Achuthanandan and submitted proposals for an amicable settlement of the one-year-old Chengara agitation.

Seeks consensus

Mr. Chandy, talking to presspersons after meeting the Chief Minister, called for a consensus on the issue.

He said that the Chief Minister had given an assurance that he would discuss the matter with the Revenue and Scheduled Caste and Tribes Welfare Minister prior to convening a conference.

This is the second time that Mr. Chandy is meeting the Chief Minister in the last one month seeking an early settlement of the stir.
