KOZHIKODE: State Committee of the Kerala Government Service Pensioners and Welfare Wing has demanded that the benefits of pay revision be made available to those who retired between March 2002 and June 30, 2004. State president of the welfare wing V.B. Adiyodi said that more than 25,000 pensioners would benefit if the authorities extended the Eighth pay commission recommendations also to this section of the retired persons. Mr. Adiyodi wanted the government to end the discriminatory attitude towards this section of pensioners. A meeting of the pensioners organisation held here recently through a resolution opined that it was discriminatory to deny the benefits of pay revision to a section of pensioners. Mr. Adiyodi presided over the meeting. Welfare fundHe said that a welfare fund of Rs.1 crore would be set up to provide relief to pensioners and their family members. A protest demonstration would be staged in front of the Secretariat in Thiruvananthapuram soon to press the demand, Mr. Adiyodi said.
