Man injured, vehicles damaged in rock blasting

Staff Reporter

HYDERABAD: A roadside blanket seller sustained minor injuries while three vehicles were damaged after splinters hit them following blasting of rocks near Kukatpally rythu bazaar on Wednesday.

The blasting was undertaken by Manjeera Construction Company for laying pillars for a high-rise building.

Splinters flying from the blasted rocks fell on a Scorpio, an auto-rickshaw and a scooter plying on the adjacent main road.

Windscreens of the Scorpio and the auto-rickshaw were damaged.

Virender, who was selling blankets on pavement, received minor injuries in the incident. He was treated at a private hospital as an out-patient.

The Kukatpally police registered a case against the construction company for failing to take precautions though it secured permission for blasting rocks using explosives.
