VIJAYAWADA: The Patamata police on Wednesday arrested two persons and recovered nine motorcycles, an Ambassador car and a laptop – all estimated to cost about Rs. 4 lakhs. The police charged Devineni Uday Kumar, 25, of Poranki and Puli Sesha Ratna Kumar, 26, of Bhavanipuram, with stealing motorcycles and cars from the city, Mylavaram, Eluru and Hyderabad over the last three months. They were working as faculty members in a computer institute in Mylavaram. The two accused were charged with stealing a Maruthi car and an Ambassador car in Eluru and selling away the Maruti in Hyderabad for scrap. When they were trying to sell away the remaining vehicles at Autonagar terminal on Wednesday morning, the Patamata police took them into custody and recovered the vehicles. A case was registered.
