BANGALORE: The members of the Akhila Karnataka Janapada Kalavidhara Okkoota recently held a demonstration in front of the office of the Kannada and Culture Department. They urged the Government to meet their demands, including reducing the age limit of folk artistes to receive pension to 40 years, representation of folk artistes in national-level cultural festivals and allotment of sites to artistes. A team of artistes, led by president of Okkoota Veeresh Bellary, presented a memorandum to the director of the department Manu Baligar and the Minister for Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Shobha Karandlaje. — Staff Reporter
