Student injured as pistol goes off

MANGALORE: A postgraduate student of a private dental college at Deralakatte on the outskirts of the city reportedly sustained bullet injury on his chest when a pistol in his pocket went off accidentally on Wednesday, police sources said.

The student has been identified as Kishore George (26), a second year Master of Dental Surgery student. He is a native of Kanhangad in Kerala. However, he was living at Attavar in the city and he is reportedly having a licence to keep a pistol. He has been was admitted to a private hospital at Deralakatte. Sources quoting doctors of the hospital said that he is out of danger.

The police have not registered any case. The student did not file any complaint to this effect, sources said. — Staff Correspondent
