Remuneration for ryots under carbon trading

P. Oppili

CHENNAI: Farmers in the State, who have provided their land for taking up ’Tree Cultivation in Private Lands’ (TCPL), implemented by the Forest Department, will get remuneration under carbon trading.

A non-governmental organisation will provide the remuneration to the farmers, which would be 37 paise per planted sapling per quarter.

The programme would increase the income for farmers three fold — they could be able to harvest the fruits and other benefits from the cultivated plants besides it would also earn them the revenue both from the Government and under carbon trading also, said C.K.Sreedharan, Principal Chief Conservator of Forests, Tamil Nadu.
