Dormitories will have cots, lights and fans ‘Toilets will be maintained properly’ BELLARY: In order to overcome the problem of limited accommodation faced every year, the Hampi Utsav Committee has decided to put up tents to accommodate artistes, dignitaries and tourists coming to witness the three-day extravaganza. The utsav will be held on November 3, 4 and 5. For the first time, efforts are being made to put up makeshift accommodation for around 1,400 people to give them a different feel of the place. This arrangement is in addition to the lodges that are available in Kamalapur run by the Karnataka State Tourism Development Corporation. There are also private hotels in Hospet city. Although makeshift facilities are being set up, due care is being taken to ensure necessary infrastructure. In the VIP section, which is being set up behind the Kamalapur Inspection Bungalow, 100 rooms, each equipped with two cots, a light and a fan, are being readied with common toilets (50) and bathrooms (40). Adjacent to it will be three dormitories, which will accommodate 10 people in each wing. Each dormitory hall will be equipped with cots, lights and fans, along with common washroom facilities. Eleven dormitories are also being set up near the Queen’s Bath to accommodate folk artistes. Care has also been taken to maintain the toilets and bathrooms. Boys will be employed to look after housekeeping on the premises. ‘Ready’“As of now, arrangements to accommodate 850 persons are ready and, if necessary, a few more dormitories will be set up to meet the requirements,” an official in charge of tent accommodation told The Hindu.
