Preparations on for Kannada Rajyotsava

Belgaum: The Belgaum district administration and various Kannada organisations are gearing up to celebrate Kannada Rajyotsava on Saturday. The celebrations will begin with the offering of puja to Goddess Bhuvaneshwari at the Deputy Commissioner’s office compound at 9 a.m.

Minister for Major and Medium Irrigation and Belgaum district in-charge Basavaraj Bommai will unfurl the National Flag and offer puja to the goddess.

This will be followed by a colourful procession of tableaux depicting various development and welfare programmes of the State Government, besides local culture. Members of several troupes of folk artistes and Kannada organisations will participate in the procession which will pass through main streets of the city and culminate at Rani Chennamma Circle. Schoolchildren will be performing cultural programmes at Mahatma Gandhi Bhavan from 6 p.m.
