Srinath advances

HYDERABAD: U. Srinath defeated Y. Srinivas Reddy 9-2 in the men’s singles (35 years & above) of Transworld International tennis tournament at Indira Park here.

Chess selections

Andhra Pradesh State junior chess championship for boys and girls will be held at Sri Rameswara Swamy Kalyanamandapam, Achanta (West Godavari) on October 30 and 31 to pick the State teams for the forthcoming junior Nationals. Praneeth wins title

Praneeth Surya of St. Alloysius High School (Chaitanyapuri) emerged champion with five points out of a possible six points in the Dronacharya Chess Academy tournament. Despite tying with Medwin and Manoj Sainath with five points each, Praneeth was adjudged winner by virtue of better progressive score.

Final placings: 1. Praneeth Surya, 2. Manoj Saintha, 3. J. Medwin.
