10,000 broiler chicken killed in fire

VELLORE: About 10,000 broiler chicken kept in four poultry sheds in Thattapparai in Gudiyatham taluk perished in a fire on Monday evening.

According to the police, the fire that broke out in one of the sheds, spread to the other sheds.

The owner of the poultry farm had locked the sheds and left for home.

All the four sheds were gutted and the poultry destroyed by the time he went to the farm after hearing the news. An electric short-circuit is suspected to be the cause of the fire.
