CPI expresses unhappiness
Special Correspondent
CHENNAI: Expressing unhappiness over the outcome of the meeting between External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee and Chief Minister M.Karunanidhi, CPI state secretary D.Pandian on Tuesday stressed that a ceasefire alone would satisfy the party.
“The party will continue to fight to press a ceasefire and to get permission to help the Tamils in Sri Lanka,” he said in a statement.
Mr Pandian said though Mr Pranab Mukherjee met Mr Karunanidhi he did not say anything about India’s demand for a ceasefire. “It seems a solution to the crisis will be placed only after Sri Lanka wins the war. Neither the External Affairs Minister nor the Chief Minister have given a clear answer to the question on ceasefire,” he added.
