BANGALORE: Armed men barged into two temples near Jigani in the early hours of Tuesday and killed a priest before taking away cash and jewels. According to the police, miscreants broke into the Kabbalamma Temple and attempted to steal ornaments and money from the “hundi.” Priest Honnappa (65), who was sleeping in the temple attempted to resist the robbers. However, he was attacked with wooden clubs by the miscreants who made away with valuables. Later, they barged into the Sadaleshwara Temple and decamped with valuables from there too. The exact value of the valuables is yet to be ascertained. Three killedThree persons were killed on the spot when a KSRTC bus hit the two-wheeler, which they were riding, near Kemmale, near Kanakapura, in the early hours of Tuesday. Police identified the deceased as sand businessman Sreekantaiah (35) of Kadu Jakkasandra; Gunda (24) of Kalenadodi and Bhyra alias Kalaiah (20) of Booduguppe. Tension prevailed in that area following the accident. People assembled in large numbers pelted stones on the bus and urged the KSRTC authorities to take action against the driver for rash and negligent driving. Murder solvedThe Sanjay Nagar police have solved the murder case of a lorry driver by arresting three persons. The accused are D.V. Shivakumar Veerabhadrappa (28), Prem Kumar Jaan (21) and G. Ramesh Gopurao (38), residents of Railway Colony near Lottegollanahalli. They had allegedly attacked lorry driver Rajanna in Lottegollanahalli on October 24, 2008, and killed him. Pistol seizedOfficials of the Central Crime Branch (CCB) arrested a realtor on charges of possessing an unlicensed pistol. Police gave his name as Lokesh alias Loki (31), a resident of Mathikere Brindavan Layout, near SBM Colony. “The accused is a real estate agent. He had purchased a country-made pistol from an arms supplier in the city. His intention was to threaten his rivals as well as landlords. Based on the oral complaints received from the public, we have arrested the accused and handed him over to Yeshwanthpur police,” an officer of CCB told The Hindu. The police also recovered four live bullets.
