Accused held, jewellery recovered

A special team of the Periamet police on Tuesday arrested an accused suspected to have been involved in several theft and robbery cases. About 22.5 sovereigns of gold jewellery were recovered from him.

According to the police, the team apprehended A. Soni alias Soniaraj (27) of Periamet based on a tip-off. The accused confessed to his involvement in theft and chain-snatching incidents on Thana Street and other areas in Purasawalkam. Based on the information, the stolen jewellery was recovered.

Soniaraj was produced at a city court and remanded to judicial custody.
