Pre-paid autorickshaw service

A total of 620 autorickshaw drivers belonging to various trade unions propose to launch a pre-paid service at the Egmore Railway Station. A release from the Chennai Egmore Railway Station Pre-paid Auto Drivers’ Association said that passengers would have to get a token for Rs.2 and then get into any pre-paid autorickshaw. A similar system exists at the Chennai Central Railway Station. Representatives of seven major trade unions recently met Transport Minister K.N. Nehru and urged him to provide assistance to implement the system.
