Two held for worker’s murder
Special Correspondent
TAMBARAM: Selaiyur police have arrested two construction workers in connection with the murder of their colleague at Rajakilpakkam near Tambaram on Sunday.
Rama Rao (30), hailing from Andhra Pradesh, had gone to the company’s head office to get cash for salary distribution to his colleagues. Police said two of his colleagues,
Shankar (48), hailing from Orissa, and Delhi Rao (22) of Andhra Pradesh had gone along with Rama Rao, who had not given the wages to them for the past few weeks.
Fearing Rama Rao would not give the salary on Sunday too, they accompanied him, took him to an isolated spot in Rajakilpakkam and consumed liquor. The two fought with Rama Rao over the wages and in a fit of rage, attacked him with beer bottles, killing him on the spot. Selaiyur police managed to arrest the two men on Sunday night itself.
Huts damaged
Three thatched huts were damaged when a fire cracker fell on top of a house in Moovar Street, East Tambaram on Monday evening. Selaiyur police said the cracker landed on the huts that were built on the terrace of the house and sparks from it damaged clothes and a portion of the thatched roof.
A fire tender from Tambaram put out the flames, police said, adding that none was hurt.
