Training in village industries to commence on November 12

Free hostel accommodation for outstation candidates

TIRUCHI: J.C. Kumarappa Institute of Rural Technology and Development, an Institutional training centre of Khadi Village Industries Commission, at Gandhiniketan Ashram in T. Kallupatti in Madurai district, has scheduled commencement of its next session of skills training in various village industries on November 12.

According to a communication from Institute Principal R. Rajendran, five months’ training is offered in Tailoring and Embroidery; four months’ training in Servicing of Electronics and Electrical Equipments, and Rural Mechanic (Electrical Wiring, Motor Winding and Diesel Engine Mechanism); three months’ training in Cutting and Tailoring; two months’ training in Fitter, Plumber and Pump Mechanism, Two-Wheeler Mechanism, Servicing of Refrigerator and A/C Mechanism; one month training in Electric Wireman, Detergent Cake Making, Spices and Masala; two weeks training in Screen Printing; one-week training in Cleaning Powder Making, Detergent Powder, Fruits Jam, Squash and Pickles Making; and four-days training in Bio Manure and Vermi Compost.

Programmes with stipendiary component: Six months training in Composite Rural Engineering (Electrical Wiring and Steel Fabrication), and Footwear and Leather Goods Manufacturing; three-months training in Footwear and Leather Goods Making, Electrical Motor Winding, Steel Fabrication, Fancy Leather and Rexin Goods Making; two-months training in Toilet and Laundry Soap Making, Hand Made Paper Conversion (note books, file, cover, carry bag etc), Exercise Book Manufacturing, Fancy Leather Goods Making, Fruits and Vegetable Processing, and one-month training in Motor Rewinding.

Those in the age group between 18 and 45 years with a pass in 10th standard are eligible to apply.

Stipend Rs. 800

Candidates admitted under stipendiary courses with hostel accommodation will be paid a monthly stipend of Rs. 800 each. Outstation candidates are given free hostel accommodation.

Admitted candidate should pay a minimum course fee of Rs. 100 per month, registration fee of Rs. 50 and boarding charges of Rs. 800.

Women, candidates from SC/ST and minority community, physically challenged persons and ex-servicemen are exempted from course fee.

Candidates who succeed and obtain KVIC certificates will be guided to start their own industries or business units with financial assistance under Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme.

Aspirants of self-employment (male and female), self help groups, candidates sponsored by Central and State Government Departments, NGOs, Societies, Industries, Organisations and Associations can apply for the training.

Application and prospectus can be obtained by remitting Rs. 25 in person or by sending money order of Rs. 35.

Applications with bio-data, photo copies of the certificates, passport size photo, and self addressed stamped (Rs. 5) envelope should reach the Institute by November 6. For further details, dial 04549 – 272365.
