Parthasarathy the most. A class XI student of The Higher Secondary School for Boys, Srirangam, Parthasarathy began scouts in a pretty much unassuming way. As the rule demands, he maintained a diary on his social activities at home and neighbourhood for a month. For over three years, he’s been involved in quite a number of social work through scouts and was trained in first aid, map making, camp preparation, tent pitching and estimation. He meticulously worked towards improving his soft skills and communication abilities, which helped him earn nine badges. At the three-day selection camp for Rajya Puraskar conducted recently, he scored over his counterparts in written and oral tests. His projects were also assessed by the panel members before selecting him for the award. He was one among thousands of scouts and guides to receive the award from the hands of Governor Surjit Singh Barnala. “I treasure my training I had been given during the camps. First aid training, especially, has boosted my confidence level and helped me think steady over shoulders at times of emergency,” Parthasarathy says. Headmaster V. Ramanujam congratulated him and six other school members who have been selected for the award.
