CHENNAI: Members of the Canara Bank Employees’ Union donated hearing aids to 45 students of Little Flower Convent School for the Deaf at T. Nagar recently as part of their social identification programme.

Union’s State committee secretary D. Luke Bhaskaran said the equipment worth Rs.2.50 lakh was donated.

Last year, artificial limbs worth Rs.2.40 lakh were donated by the union. Besides taking up the cause of the bank employees, the union has been involved in the social service since 2001, he said.

Participating in the function, the former Attorney General, K. Parasaran, commended the union’s initiative. It would help the children overcome the challenges posed by their disability, he said.

Canara Bank general manager S.B.R. Babuji and Tamil Nadu Bank Employees Federation general secretary E. Arunachalam participated in the function.
