State to set up flood shelters

BHUBANESWAR: As the State was getting ready to observe the Orissa Disaster Preparedness Day and remember all those who lost their lives in the super-cyclone on Oct. 29 nine years ago, the State has announced to establish 50 flood shelters in the flood-prone regions for which Rs. 23 crore from the CM’s Relief Fund was sanctioned. The flood shelters are likely to ve completed before the arrival of next monsoon. During normal times, the flood shelters would be used as school buildings.
