Special Correspondent

CHENNAI: Police took into custody a 14-year-old a speech-impaired boy, for allegedly driving away a parked car from a street in Tondiarpet area. According to police, the boy was taken into custody Saturday night during a routine vehicle check. He had been staying at Karunai Illam, an orphanage in New Washermenpet, and left from there on Friday.

The boy, who could lip-read, revealed that he had found a car parked on Pillayar Koil Street and had driven it away. Investigations revealed that the car was owned by Suresh Kumar, who had filed a complaint.

Enquiries revealed that the boy had been found wandering near the Central Railway Station six months ago and was brought to the orphanage by an ‘agent.’ Police said that he had also admitted to driving away another car some time ago.
