Sonia calls up Karunanidhi

CHENNAI: United Progressive Alliance chairperson Sonia Gandhi on Sunday had a telephonic discussion with Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi about the Sri Lankan crisis and the prevailing situation and explained to him the action being taken by the Centre to address the issue.

According to a State government press release, Ms. Gandhi informed him about the visit of External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee to Chennai to have an elaborate discussion on the issue.

Mr. Karunanidhi thanked Ms. Gandhi and Mr. Mukherjee for their efforts.
